Government Grants 4000

government grants 4000
President Obam said he wants more financial aid for college but business students are denied. Why?

If we want job creation, Why does the government discriminate against business majors?
The SMART grant (National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent) provides $4000 per academic year to Pell Grant-recipients who are majoring in math, science, computer science, or engineering. It covers most all majors except business majors such as business management and business entrepreneurship. It takes a lot of mathematics to start and run a successful company. Shouldn’t the scope of this grant be enlarged to cover the people that will start, and run the new businesses that will hire the engineers, chemist, computer techs, etc.?

Business students have not been denied anything. The SMART Grant has not been expanded, but that’s just one type of aid. It was desiged specifically to encourage students to major in Math and Science programs, because these are programs where America is lacking in expertise, so we need to encourage people to become experts in these fields. (Business is certainly a fine field to enter, but it’s not as though we are desparately low on businessmen.) For the same reason, a business major is also not eligible for a TEACH Grant. Besides, you cannot recieve a SMART Grant anyway without first being eligible for a Pell Grant. The Pell Grant, meanwhile, HAS been expanded, and it has absolutely nothing to do with what your major is. So as a business major, you are now more likely to be eligible for a Pell Grant than you may have been a few years ago. How many grants do you need, anyway?
